Traveling with family can be hectic, especially during long layovers. During our recent trip through Newark Liberty International Airport , the clearly marked Newark Airport Smoking Area provided a much-needed break. As a family with mixed needs, it was helpful that I could step outside quickly while my partner stayed with the kids in the seating area nearby. The designated Newark Airport outside Terminal B was clean and spacious, with ashtrays and benches that made the short break comfortable. Even though the area is outdoors, it felt safe and maintained. I appreciated how conveniently it was located just outside the baggage claim area, so I didn’t need to walk too far or lose sight of our luggage and stroller. Security was also understanding when I asked for directions, and signage helped me find the area again before our connecting flight. It's clear the airport has considered the needs of both smokers and non-smokers by placing these areas at a reasonable distance from entry points. After a long international flight, being able to take a few moments in Newark Airport helped me reset and made the rest of our trip much more bearable. It’s a small feature, but it genuinely improved our family’s travel experience. Newark is definitely more accommodating than some other airports we've been through.
